Applicants for the Bill and Ann Legal Scholarship Fund need not be lesbian or gay. Recipients will be third-year or fourth-year law students who intend to devote at least part of their practice to improving the quality of life for sexual minorities.

To be eligible for scholarship consideration, a candidate must

  1. be committed to equal rights and justice for gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgendered persons;
  2. be a citizen of the United States;
  3. be a student at an accredited law school;
  4. demonstrate the potential to complete his/her law program successfully; and

Finalists may meet individually with the Scholarship Review Committee, who will make recommendation to Equity Foundation regarding disbursement of funds. All checks issued pursuant to these determinations will be made payable directly to the law school. The dollar amount and number of scholarships may vary from year to year depending upon the volume of applicants and level of funds available for disbursement. Over the life of the fund, scholarship checks for our recipients have grown from $1,000 to $5,000.
