Equity Foundation is now accepting scholarship applications for the 2015-2016 school year. We offer scholarships for students who are LGBTQ, children of LGBTQ parents, and students actively working to advance LGBTQ equality. Applicants must be residents of Oregon or SW Washington and in need of financial assistance for their education to be eligible.
Equity is proud to host some of Oregon’s longest standing scholarships. Our scholarship program is supported by members of the LGBTQ and allied community who are committed to assisting students of all ages fund their education. Our scholarships support students with a variety of interests and backgrounds, such as activists working to advance LGBTQ rights, students majoring in fine arts and humanities, and LGBTQ adults who have gone back to school.
Here’s what two of our 2014 scholarship recipients had to say about the impact of their Equity scholarships:
“The generosity of Equity Foundation, its scholarship funds, and its donors has brought immediate and practical relief to our family by eliminating the daunting gap leftover from loans and college financial aid. The best way, the only way, that I can return this gesture of trust is to remain dedicated to my pursuit, and through art, help improve the visibility and conditions of queer and trans people. Equity has helped me a great deal.”
– Emeric Kennard
“As a non-traditional student, who decided to attend school twenty years after high school graduation, I’ve had to work my way up from the bottom, and it has not been an easy journey. Every bit of assistance is greatly appreciated and every scholarship I receive is confirmation that I am indeed on the right path. I am so thankful to know that there are people who believe in me and what I am doing and trust that I will be a good investment for our community.”
– Tascha Johnson
We are excited to support more students like Emeric and Tascha who are committed to advancing LGBTQ equality. Applications for the majority of our scholarship funds are due Friday, June 19th by 5pm.
