The Women Who Lead Luncheon seeks to award and raise the profile of women whose efforts offer pathways to improved opportunities and expanded political and social participation for underrepresented communities. This Luncheon, was created in 2012 by the Equity Foundation (“Equity”) to honor and award women for their vibrant activism and leadership that has improved the quality of life for others and inspired them to do the same. Past honorees include Governor Barbara Roberts (2012), Sherri Murrell (2012), Susie Shepherd (2013), and Samantha Swaim (2013).
This Luncheon is our chance to gather together to celebrate and award women who use their voices and their actions to advance equality for the LGBTQ community. They are thinkers and doers—women who pursue their vision with determination and a focus on impact. This award recognizes their commitment to social justice, activism and passion for community-led solutions. It celebrates two high-powered women who are making a difference—leaders who have changed the face of business, education, women’s health, sports and more. These two individuals represent the courage, commitment, and innovative thinking of all the remarkable people who work on the frontlines of social change. Through their extraordinary vision and courageous work, these women are improving the lives of all people in our community.
The 2014 Women Who Lead Luncheon will be held on May 15, 2014 on the 6th floor of The Nines hotel, 11:30am – 1:00pm. It will spotlight ALL women who continually infuse new energy and ideas into the effort to solve our most pressing social problems. The Luncheon will help these leaders share their work with a broad range of new audiences, allowing them to promote their ideas and ensure that their insights inform and advance the work of other social innovators.
